This family featured below is a prime example of why taking the extra time to get professional family photos done while on vacation! Mom is actually a photographer in her hometown & even though she takes wonderful photos she never gets to be in them! So this year while on vacation they decided call me for their family photos!
Sometimes getting that ONE good family shot while on vacation can feel like an impossible experience especially with a little one! Trust me! I have been there with my own family & its just 3 of us. This family featured below is a prime example of why taking the extra time to get professional family photos done while on vacation! Mom is actually a photographer in her hometown & even though she takes wonderful photos she never gets to be in them! So this year while on vacation they decided call me for their family photos! & let me just tell you I am so glad they did! Just look at these facial expressions on this gorgeous little girl! She was thoroughly enjoying splashing in the water. My goal is to make sure that getting your family photos taken is one of the highlights of your entire vacation! Everyone should be able to sit back, relax & enjoy each others company while I capture the laughter & smiles.

My 1st cake smash for 2015 could not have gone any better! I always seem to develop the butterflies when I am going to a shoot that is something that I haven't done in a few months. Cake Smashes for instance....I do not get to do those nearly as much as I would love too! But when I do....oh those sweet little faces get covered in icing!! I start off these sessions by taking a couple family photos, namely because most of the time these families have not had their family portrait taken since this 1 year old was a new born! & lets face it making it to 1 is just as big a deal for mom & dad as it is for the baby. We then transition into getting a few individuals of the little guy/girl in a few different outfits that mom (or dad) just had to have ;) & lastly we let them dive into cake until their little hearts are content! This session with Little Miss Abby was actually my first Cake Smash indoors (my home mini studio) & I think this might be my new favorite location for a cake smash. Main reason was I could control everything. lol. The weather outside was not warm enough for this Little Miss to be getting messy in just a tutu so we adapted & overcame! The lighting in my home office (mini studio) was ideal & the best part for mom was she could take her little one straight to the tub afterwards where I had a towel, soap & washcloths ready! ![]() This also happened to be the 1st Cake Smash (besides our daughters) that my husband got to watch & I think he had just as much fun as I did! & I wouldn't have it any other way!
Oooo!! I am sooo excited! Spring is in the air... well almost anyways. I will be doing some fun & whimsical spring minis either in our vegetable garden(pictured below) or at another location that has flowers & shrubs. backstory on the photo above: Our garden started off as a fun idea for my hubby & I to try & has grown into a full grown veggie tray! These are some of our winter time veggies i.e. broccoli, cauliflower, collard greens, & garlic(super easy) Winter gardens are pretty low maintenance for us, just because typically--in Florida--we don't get a lot of freezing temps. Now our spring & summer garden...that's a completely different ball game! The weeds, the watering, the harvesting, the trimming oh & did I mention we are constantly making sure Lily & our 4 dogs are NOT going in the garden. :) Anyways we have started teaching our daughter how to water the plants, & pull weeds (she still sometimes pulls the actually plant) she loves it! as You can see in the photo above she hasn't quite mastered watering the actual plant Oh did I mention that since practically day 1 our daughter has loved going out to our yard & eating anything off our plants. Let me explain a little more. The majority of our plants have veggies/fruit on them. For example our front yard has a peach tree, & on the side we have 5 blueberry bushes, now the backyard...we have the following: key lime tree, lemon tree, plummelo tree, nectarine tree(no thanks to the birds we've never gotten to try our nectarines) & this year our Kiwi vine, fig tree, & pomegranate tree are suppose to produce (they take up to 3 years) oh & blackberries. In our garden (summertime) we have green peppers, red peppers, jalapenos, tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, eggplant, squash(we are still fine tuning it) & edamame.
We still consider ourselves novices at this organic suburban gardening thing, but its a fun hobby. Christmas minis are booking now!!! Here are details...

...okay NOT really. I'm not ready. :) Its amazing how God designed us. I honestly can't believe how much a baby grows in the first year of life! Here's a few of our little munchkin I just want to cry when I compare photos!!!!!!!!!! Everyone warns you they grow fast but seeing is definitely believing in this case photo credit for the one on the left (newborn photo) Kaylie B. Poplin This kiddo of ours is seriously a ham! I break out the phone & she's all about looking & smiling...I break out the camera & she looks every way but at me! :) I just chalk it up to good practice! ![]() For those of you, that DON'T live in the South this winter storm was a big deal for us! lol We had "snow" & ice, our cars were frozen shut & every bridge--small, medium, and large--were all closed. (where I live there are about 8 bridges within a 20mile radius) You name it...it was FROZEN! I recently saw some photos of frozen bubbles from a fellow photog that lived up North & desperately wished it would get cold enough so I could attempt it....I got my wish. Unfortunately, it really didn't get cold enough for the bubbles to freeze until after sun down but it was still awesome to see! Here are a few of my photos from tonight ![]() When some of the bubbles would completely freeze, their tops would sink in but instead of popping they would just crack! Wow! what a whirlwind month it has been! Now that Christmas is over I can finally post some photos from my mini sessions (several clients requested that I not post them because they were surprising other family members & I was happy to oblige). and the cuteness just keeps on coming... one more for good luck!
Its amazing how fast time really does fly by! It seems to move its fastest when your not paying attention too. Today my husband and I have been together for 6 years!!!!! We were 18 when we started dating & it seems like just a few days ago! Here's a few interesting fun facts about us: Josh asked me to be his girlfriend after I had already told him I wasn't interested in a boyfriend, he asked I said "no", but I quickly changed my mind when I realized I really didn't have a good reason for not dating him :) He met my parents that same day because I told him if they didn't like him there was no point in dating, that same night we went to Build-a-Bear & made a fisherman bear named Bradley. We each had a crush on each other in 9th grade & I had secretly hoped he would ask me to homecoming, I even told him I had dress picked out & I would go if I had a date...he got the hint 4 years later lol The first major purchase we made together was a house which we closed on tax day 2 1/2 years ago. We picked out/purchased my engagement ring after only being together for a year, but Josh did not propose to me until we had been together for 3 years. Yes he had my ring for 2 years! We both wanted to be able to purchase a house & pay for our own wedding, + (my dad had asked me to graduate with my bachelors first, We actually got married 2 months before my graduation). Josh pulled out all the stops to propose to me, at Cinderellas Castle in the Magic Kingdom it was the best proposal ever!!!!!!!! more details later Our engagement year was by far the worst year EVER! Everyone either needs to have a short engagement or elope! lol but seriously... Following the worst year ever we have had the best almost 2 years of our entire relationship...marriage. I gave my husband the most expensive (for him lol) & best birthday present ever this year! Lily, our daughter who was born 4 days after his birthday. I love you Josh & I can't wait to see what all God has in store for us for the next 6+ years!!!!!!!!
